About Lynn E. Haldeman
I am a retired professional musician (keyboardist), bandleader and music educator. Bachelors Degree, MUS ED, Portland State; Masters Degree, MUS ED, University of Oregon.
SAM AND NAM began as a personal protest of the Vietnam conflict. Lin-Manuel (creator of HAMILTON) and I have a lot in common. He wrote HAMILTON'S book, music and lyrics. I did the same for SAM AND NAM. I'm not an actor or professional singer, though, so that's where we part company. I am not a genius. I flunked my MENSA test. I only scored 97%; 98% is required to pass. Cost = $15.
In "THE SOUND OF MUSIC," there is an inspiring song, "Climb Every Mountain." I took Rodgers & Hammerstein's advice. SAM AND NAM is the mountain I climbed, my personal "Impossible Dream" (MAN OF LA MANCHA).
SAM AND NAM is the perfect sequel to HAMILTON. Although Alexander Hamilton appears in SAM AND NAM, the story line is really all about Uncle Sam and his wife, Mrs. Liberty (like, the Statue).
